FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Independent third-party testing validates high-performance far-infrared energy delivery and efficiency, establishing the technology platform for the next generation of SmartPad® products.
BOISE, Idaho — August 17, 2026 — XOTHRM announced today that its next-generation proprietary advanced carbon heating technology has successfully completed independent third-party laboratory validation, confirming performance that exceeds the applicable tested standards for far-infrared emissivity, radiant conversion efficiency, and wavelength distribution.
Developed through years of engineering and product refinement, the proprietary technology represents a significant advancement for XOTHRM and will serve as the foundation for the next generation of SmartPad® products and future thermal therapy innovations.
"This represents a defining moment for XOTHRM," said JoHan Wang, CEO and Founder of XOTHRM. "For decades, heat therapy has largely relied on technologies designed simply to get hot. We challenged ourselves to rethink how heat could be generated and delivered. The result is a proprietary heating platform engineered for greater efficiency, consistency, and performance. Independent validation gives us another important level of confidence in the technology and establishes the foundation for where we take SmartPad® next."
Independent Validation Confirms High Performance
Testing was conducted by an independent accredited laboratory operating under internationally recognized accreditation standards, providing third-party validation of the technology's performance.
The proprietary heating technology successfully passed all three evaluated performance criteria. It achieved a normal total emissivity of 0.89, exceeding the applicable minimum requirement of 0.83 and representing the highest emissivity recorded across XOTHRM-tested heating technologies. The technology also achieved 54% electro-thermal radiant conversion efficiency, exceeding the applicable minimum requirement of 50%.
Testing further confirmed that more than 50% of its infrared energy falls within the specified 2–25 μm range. The wavelength distribution is particularly important because it demonstrates that the technology is not simply producing heat—it is efficiently converting electrical energy into targeted far-infrared radiant energy, a key design objective of XOTHRM's proprietary heating platform.
Engineering Heat Differently
Traditional heating products are designed primarily to produce heat. XOTHRM took a different approach, developing a proprietary advanced carbon heating technology focused on improving how thermal energy is generated and delivered.
The technology combines high infrared emissivity and efficient radiant energy conversion with XOTHRM's precision temperature-control platform to create a heating system engineered around efficiency, consistency, and performance.
Rather than focusing on simply making a heating element hotter, XOTHRM's engineering objective is to make better use of the energy available.
"Developing this technology wasn't about making an incremental improvement—it was about engineering a better heating platform," said Sean Whalen, Chief Technology Officer of XOTHRM. "We focused on the complete system: how efficiently energy is converted, how consistently heat is delivered, and how the technology integrates with our temperature-control architecture. The independent results validate the performance of our proprietary technology and give us a strong technical foundation to continue advancing the SmartPad® platform."
More Than a New Heating Technology
The proprietary advanced carbon heating technology represents more than a component change. It establishes a technology platform that XOTHRM can continue developing across its product portfolio.
The new platform is designed to support more efficient heat delivery, improved thermal consistency, better utilization of available energy, enhanced overall product performance, and a scalable foundation for future XOTHRM thermal technologies.
Combined with XOTHRM's closed-loop temperature-control system, the technology is designed to deliver precise and consistent heat while maximizing the performance of a portable, battery-powered platform.
Raising the Standard for Heat Therapy
For XOTHRM, independent validation is an important part of product innovation. The company continues to invest in engineering, testing, and validation to better understand not only whether its products work as designed, but also how the underlying technology performs.
The successful third-party validation of XOTHRM's proprietary advanced carbon heating technology represents another step in that process and provides independently measured data supporting its performance.
The proprietary platform will support future generations of SmartPad® as XOTHRM continues developing new thermal technologies for healthcare, sports, workplace, and consumer applications.
"We're not interested in making another heating pad," Wang added. "We're building a thermal technology platform. This validation is an important milestone, but it's also just the beginning of what we believe this technology can become."
